Puppy Update

11 Jan

Day 364. While out for a walk on a bright but chilly Saturday morning, I found a border collie puppy. She had no collar or tag, so after drying her off, feeding her, and letting her chill on my couch for a few hours, I took her to my local vet who was able to put her up for a couple of nights until she could be collected by the dog warden. I really wanted to let her stay here, but it was simply beyond practical. She was taken from the vets to the dog pound in Lisburn the following Monday and – not surprisingly – there was a lot of interest in her when, after no one came forward to claim her (for shame!), she was put up for re-homing. The dog warden kindly, and patiently, replied to all my emails asking for updates. I am happy to announce that the pup (whom I had initially christened Elvira, then eventually Bridey [you know, as in Bride of Frankenstein?] has now been re-homed by a nice family. After a decidedly dubious beginning to her New Year, she’s now living with a new family who can hopefully give her all the time, energy and love, pups like her need – and according to the warden, she’s settling in very well indeed. *buckles under weight of warm and fuzzy feeling*
